UQ VETS Small Animal and Equine Specialist Hospitals are pleased to announce the recommencement of physiotherapy services at the hospital in 2018. This service will be available to clients referred to the service by their private vet and existing clients and patients of UQ VETS. 
Dr Lesley Goff and Stephanie Batterham from Active Animal Physiotherapy are Physiotherapists with special qualifications in animal, or veterinary physiotherapy. Just like in human health care, the Physiotherapists help performance animals and pets with treatment for back, neck and joint pain, including arthritis, muscle strains, sprains, neurological conditions and of course, all areas of rehabilitation from post surgical to returning from spelling.
The Physiotherapists use many modalities in their practice from manual therapies (manipulation, soft tissue work) to dry needling, kinesiology taping and if appropriate electrotherapeutic modalities such as ultrasound and neuromuscular stimulation. Lesley and Stephanie are experts at restoring movement due to pain and impairment in animals, and ensuring they recover completely from surgery or other injury.
The Physiotherapists at Active Animal physiotherapy are one of the only professions who can fully manage the equestrian athlete team, being the horse and rider combination and are available for referral consultations in UQ VETS Small Animal and Equine Specialist Hospitals.
